The Memphis Union Station was located on Calhoun Street between South Second Street and Rayburn Boulevard (now South Third Street). Street cars of the Memphis Street Railway Company served both Calhoun Street and Rayburn Boulevard. The station was constructed between 1910 and 1912 along with trackwork, power plant, and service facilities, opening on April 1, 1912. The facilites were operated by the Memphis Union Station Company. The following railroads used the facilities: Southern Railway Company, Louisville and Nashville Railroad Company, St. Louis, Iron Mountain, and Southern Railway Company, Nashville, Chattannoga, and St. Louis Railway Company, and St. Louis Southwestern Railway Company.

A pamplet showing the facilities of the new Union Station.
The Iron Mountain published a pamplet concerning the construction of the facilities.

Here is a MUS ticket envelope and ticket from July 1928. The ticket is for travel aboard MP train 201 Memphis-Little Rock, then MP train 101, the Louisiana Sunshine Special from Little Rock-Monroe. The Pullman with car loading number 24 was a Memphis-Lake Charles car, operating through Little Rock. In 1928, this car left Memphis Union Station at 11:25pm (opened for boarding several hours earlier) and arrived in Monroe at 8:35am the following morning. There was obviously sufficient Pullman business to warrant a preprinted ticket between Memphis and Monroe. The Pullman configuration at this time was 12-section 1 drawing room.
